After completing the Walk and 5K Run, join us for the Celebration of Life Festival back in Cheesman Park! The Festival offers the opportunity for event attendees to come together as a community to celebrate the successes of current and evolving medical treatments. With so many people living longer and healthier lives with HIV, it's only fitting to celebrate these successes and the lives of those we love.
Numerous vendors will be in attendance offering everything from goods and services to food and drinks. The Beer Garden will be serving ice cold beverages while great entertainment will play from the main stage, offering a leisurely and community-oriented afternoon. For the little ones, fun and creative children's activities will be available in Kiddie Corner, as well as face painting. Colorado Gay Volleyball Association will once again be partnering with Colorado AIDS Project to host the AIDS Walk Volleyball Tournament. This yea'rs tournament will take place in the center meadow of Cheesman Park, just north of the festival area.
AWC is elated to announce that former American Idol finalist, Casey Abrams, will be performing at the walk this summer!
Abrams finished sixth on the 10th season of American Idol, which aired on Fox in the spring of 2011. On the show, Abrams wowed judges and fans by performing songs such as “With a Little Help From My Friends’’ by The Beatles, “I Put a Spell on You’’ by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Jennifer Lopez, a judge on the season Abrams was on, once marveled at the musician’s talent. “Everything’s so perfect about you,’’ she said. “You’re such a great musician with such a special voice.’’
Following American Idol, Abrams released his self-titled album in 2012, which sold nearly 30,000 copies. His second single off the album, “Get Out’’, peaked at number 23 on Billboard’s US Adult’s Chart.
