An estimated 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV/AIDS. Approximately 1 in 5 of those people is unaware that they are HIV-positive. It can take up to 10 years for a person to experience symptoms of HIV, so the only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested.
DCAP offers free testing to anyone age 14 or older. Free walk-in testing is offered every Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the last walk-in taken at 5:00 p.m. Free testing is also offered any weekday by appointment only. Call 303 837-0166 ext. 471 to make an appointment.
Confidential testing is done with the Uni-Gold™. Recombigen® HIV test. The tests that we utilize dos not test for HIV exposure within the last three months. Results are ready within 10 minutes.
There are treatment options for HIV. The earlier HIV is detected, the more treatment options are available.
